Welcome! Explore the world of clay and create beautiful pottery pieces using advanced hand-building techniques. (This course consists of 10 classes )

Details:

Suitable for ages 12 and up.

Please wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty as working with clay can be messy.

Materials Provided:

  • 10 Kg Stoneware Clay (cone 6 stoneware )

  • Basic pottery toolkit and apron (Students can take the kit back on the last day of the class )

  • Box for storage

Class Content and Structure:

  1. Fundamental Hand-building Techniques : Participants will acquire a solid foundation in essential hand-building techniques, including pinching, coiling, and slab construction, allowing them to create various forms and shapes.

  2. Exploration of Form and Structure : Through hands-on practice and experimentation, students will explore the creation of both functional and sculptural pottery pieces, gaining an understanding of form, balance, and proportion.

  3. Surface Decoration Techniques : Students will learn surface decoration techniques such as carving, imprinting, and adding textures, enabling them to enhance the visual appeal of their pottery creations.

  4. Understanding of Clay Properties : Participants will develop an understanding of different clay types and their properties, learning how to prepare and handle clay effectively for hand-building projects.

  5. Creativity and Self-Expression : The course will encourage students to unleash their creativity and express themselves artistically through pottery, fostering a sense of individuality and artistic exploration.

  6. Problem-Solving and Adaptability: Students will learn to troubleshoot common challenges encountered during the hand-building process, developing problem-solving skills and adaptability in their approach to pottery making.

  7. Community and Continued Learning: Participants will have the opportunity to connect with other pottery enthusiasts, share ideas, and access resources for further learning and development, including studio access and recommended reading materials.

Disclaimer:

  1. Refund : No refund policy

  2. Transfer to another person : In the event that an individual is unable to attend the program due to personal reasons, they have the option to transfer their enrolment to another person for the registered program. This transfer must be communicated to the studio 10 days prior to the program commencement to facilitate the addition of the replacement individual to the group.

  3. Missed Sessions : No refund is offered for the missed sessions.

  4. Studio Closure : If the studio is forced to close due to factors outside of our control such as severe weather conditions, or an infectious disease such as Covid-19, we will reschedule the paused sessions. However we will not offer any refunds.
